Anything about travelling welcome here!!
ok, i'm going to canada from the united states. i read i don't need a passport yet, but it's highly recommended. well i don't have one, and i can't get one. because i'm on parole. but i also read that if i bring my state ID and bitch certificate, that will suffice. but i will be a fugitive, and it might be hard getting back into the US, but i'll worry about that when it happens. |
anyway, my question is this. will they do any sort of criminal background check at the border crossing? will they see my warrants in their computers? what will they do if they do? will they just tell me i can't enter canada, so i could just try again the next day? would they hold me in local jail for extradition? (by the way, my crime will be parole violation, and the original charge was "unlawful possession of hypodermic syringes," which wasn't illegal, especially since i worked for the fucking needle exchange. but i plead guilty, because i'm a pussy, and it was just easier that way. well, it's a long story. i skipped bail, and they could have found some reason to incarcerate me anyway, so i decided fuck the trial.) anyway, as long as i look like an upstanding citizen, like i'm not just going up to canada to buy pot or something, they'll just wave me through, right?
when i was a kid, i went to toronto with my family, and all they asked was, "do you all have valid IDs?" and we rushed to dig them out, and the border patrol people were like, "no, i don't need to see them, just confirm that you have them." so we were like, "yeah..." and they waved us right through.
that was then. this is now. i understand that. i'm surely not going to bring anything that anyone could even guess might be illegal. and i won't bring any fruits and vegetables. i guess i could even leave my knife behind, but i hope that's not necessary. anyway, if i just say i'm going on vacation, i'm from seattle, i've always wanted to see vancouver, and i have lots of money to spend, they'll be cool with me right?
anyone who's traveled from america to canada lately, please reply to tell me your exact experience in crossing the border so i know how safe/easy it is. maybe i'll decide against it based on your replies. but don't try to convince me not to violate parole. it's a little late for that. just tell me your experience and let me base my decision on that. thanks.
